Writers' Africa
"The Writers' Africa" is a series of encounters with African writers and Nordic writers with influential experiences from Africa. The seminars take place in the institute's library. They are held in the evening, two or three times per term.
By showing complexity and creativity expressed in the fiction of African writers we hope to counteract one-sided negative Africa images.
Invitations are sent to all who have notified their interest.
Please, write to mai.palmberg@nai.uu.se or

The series started in 1995 as part of the research project on "Cultural Images in and of Africa". Some of the early African guests we have had are the following writers: Mwandawiro Mghanga (exile-Kenyan), Dyana Kukama, Mazizi Kunene and Phedi Thlobolo from South Africa, Manuel Rui from Angola, and Yvonne Vera from Zimbabwe. Below is a list of the more recent guests, and links to the invitations with brief presentations.
